NFL Week 8: Dolphins @ Bengals

Miami Dolphins @ Cincinnati Bengals Sun. Oct. 31st 1pm EST

Coming into this NFL regular season, the Miami Dolphins were considered to be a good team in the AFC East division, but not a great team. There is no doubt that this team is much improved compared to last season as they finally were able to get that big offensive threat downfield in superstar wide receiver Brandon Marshall, but they still have some things to correct on both sides of the football before they can be considered a real force to be reckoned with in the AFC Conference.

Fortunately, despite playing in the same division as arguably two of the best teams in the NFL in the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, the Miami Dolphins have played pretty well this season and to a certain extent have surpassed expectations so far.

Even though they may be sitting at 3-3 coming into Week 8, the Dolphins will have their work cut out for them in order to compete with the rest of the AFC Conference for a playoff spot at season’s end. Not only will it be extremely difficult to clinch a playoff spot this season as there is no way they are winning the AFC East division title with the way the New England Patriots and the New York Jets are battling it out for the top spot, but with so many good teams in the AFC Conference this season, every week will be an all out battle.

Last week the Miami Dolphins played really well against the Pittsburgh Steelers and some people think they got robbed due to a bad call late in the game, but they will have to suck it up and get back on the gridiron as they will face another talented AFC North team in the Cincinnati Bengals.

Last season the Cincinnati Bengals were without a doubt the best team in the AFC North and in the entire league for that matter as they had a dominant ground game and one of the best defenses in the NFL, but this season they have really struggled and will come into this game against the Miami Dolphins coming off three straight losses and one loss shy of being in last place in the division.

Fortunately for the Dolphins, they have a perfect opportunity to get back on track in Week 8 as they will face off against the struggling Bengals in an attempt to hand them their fourth straight loss and basically knock them out of playoff contention.

As of right now, the Cincinnati Bengals have the edge in this one in terms of the point spread as they are favored to win at -2.5, but I don’t think Carson Palmer and company will be able to contend with the resurgent Miami Dolphins defense who will almost certainly cruise to victory in this one and pull off the slight upset.
