NFL Week 10: Vikings @ Bears

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears Sun. Nov. 14th 2010 1pm EST

It has been one rough season for Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings as they came into the NFL regular season with high hopes of contending for a Super Bowl title, but coming into Week 10 against the division rival Chicago Bears, Brad Childress’ squad only has three wins to their credit and could miss the playoffs entirely.

Fortunately, the Minnesota Vikings are coming off a win that might help turnaround their season as Brett Favre came alive with another patent fourth quarter comeback victory to along with a career-high in passing yards with 446.

Despite coming out with the victory over the Arizona Cardinals in overtime (27-24) last week, the Cardinals aren’t exactly their stiffest competition and the Vikings still had to go into overtime just to get the win against a team they should have easily beaten.

With that being said, the Minnesota Vikings are still struggling and could have their work cut out for them once again this week against the lockdown defense of the division rival Chicago Bears.

Even though it will be a tough task to say the least for the Vikings to make the playoffs this season as they will have to win pretty much every game from here on out, this NFC North divisional showdown with the Bears could be their most important game of the season as a loss could mean that they are no longer in contention for the division title.

Coming into this matchup with the Chicago Bears, the Minnesota Vikings have a 3-5 record and are sitting in third place within the NFC North division, but with a win this week and a win over the Green Bay Packers next week, Brett Favre and company will be right back in the mix for the division title as they will be sitting at 5-5 and five and will have the potential to finish the season at 11-5.

With that record, the Minnesota Vikings would be in contention for the NFC North title and if they don’t win the division they would have shot at the NFC Wildcard.

In the meantime, they will be taking it one game at a time and heading into Soldier Field this weekend with high hopes that it will just take one win in order to turn things around.

As of right now, the Minnesota Vikings are the favorites to come out on top in this NFC North division showdown with a -1 point spread. With the spread being this low, this game will almost certainly be a hard fought battle from start to finish, but in the end I believe Brett Favre and company will get the win and improve to 4-5 on the season.
