NFL Week 8: Seahawks @ Raiders

Seattle Seahawks @ Oakland Raiders Sun. Oct. 31st 4:15pm EST

The Oakland Raiders have been one of the worst teams in the NFL for about a decade now and every time this team makes move to improve their storied NFL franchise, they seem to drop and just continue to get worse with every passing season.

Fortunately, this season is working out a bit better than anticipated as they will head into Week 8 against the
Seattle Seahawks full of confidence as they are coming off their biggest win in franchise history as they were able to get the best of their hated division rival Denver Broncos 59-14 last week in the Mile High City.

Not only was this historic win over the Denver Broncos huge to say least as the Oakland Raiders were able to get a much needed win over a divisional opponent and move into second place in the AFC West division behind the first place Kansas City Chiefs, but their offense showed some serious signs of life both in the ground game with running back Darren McFadden and the passing game with the newly acquired quarterback Jason Campbell.

All season long, Raiders fans have been waiting and hoping to see both McFadden and Campbell get going and have this offense firing on all cylinders. It may be seven weeks into the season, but Oakland has finally found their groove as their running game is amongst the best in the league (3rd overall) with 158.4 yards per game and the passing game is starting to come around.

In Week 8, the up and coming Oakland Raiders will take Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Even though the Seahawks aren’t exactly the stiffest of competition for the Raiders, Oakland could have their work cut out for them this Sunday if they can continue to play as well as they have on the offensive side of the football.

There is no question that the Seattle Seahawks are a talented football team as they have proven they can play with any team in the league when they are firing on all cylinders on both sides of the football, but they have been extremely streaky this season and inconsistent to say least.

Despite not being able to play consistently well, the Seahawks are still leading the way in the NFC West division and could very well be playoff bound, but they will have to keep winning football games from here on out to hold off the Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams within their division.

As for the Oakland Raiders, they will have their crosshairs on the AFC West leading Kansas City Chiefs as they are only a few games behind and will face off against them next week. If the Raiders can get a win here, it would give them the momentum they need moving forward in order to contend with the Chiefs in Week 9.
